Abstract

1,126,490. Tanning leather. FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER A.G. Feb.25, 1966 [Feb.26, 1965], No.8399/66. Heading C6C. The process of tanning leather disclosed is substantially the same as that disclosed in Specification 1, 071, 975 except that it comprises a step of acidifying without a liquor, the pelts with (a) a mineral acid or acid salt thereof and/or an organic sulphonic acid and (b) an ammonium salt optionally in the presence of a carboxylic acid, a salt of sulphurous acid and/or another water soluble inorganic alkali metal salt such that the pelts have a pH of below 4.
