Abstract

1,126,412. Devices for lifting cable drums. LOVERIDGE Ltd. 3 March, 1967 [3 March, 1966], No. 9454/66. Heading B8H. To lift a cable drum which has central holes 2 in its sides 1 an arm 3 of a lifting device 3, 4 is inserted into each of the two holes and the drum is raised by shackles 5 attached to portions 4. When the lifting force is applied the arms 3 pivot about projections 9 so that hooked ends 15 engage the inside of the holes and surfaces 17 abut the tops of the holes thereby locking the arms 3 in the holes. In a second embodiment, Fig. 2 (not shown), the portion 4 comprises a loop for engagement by a hook attached to a lifting sling.
