Abstract

1,126,253. Shelving. SAINSBURY & PARKINSON, Ltd. 31 July, 1967 [6 Aug., 1966; 21 Feb., 1967], Nos. 35311/66 and 8205/67. Heading A4B. A shelf 11 has one longitudinal edge supported in a longitudinal channel 15 of a wall mounted strip 10, Fig. 3, having unequal length limbs 16, 17 with lips 18, 19 engaging opposed faces of the shelf 11, disengagement of the shelf 11 from the strip 10 being prevented by fitment of caps 12 engaged over the ends of the shelf and strip. The shelf 11 is fitted with edge members 22 defining ribs 23 which engage one behind the upper lip 18 and the other behind a wedge 25 carried by an end cap 12, the wedge 25 engaging behind the lower lip 19. In another embodiment, Fig. 6, the strip 10a comprises a metal pressing with lips 18a, 19a spaced apart by a distance less than the shelf thickness so that the limbs of the strip 10a are resiliently pressed apart in positioning the shelf 11 horizontally. Each end cap 12a carries tapered studs 26 which engage in the strip 10a at the junctions of the limbs and base 14a of the strip 10a. A felt, sealing strip 28 is provided in a longitudinal groove 27 in the base 14a.
