Abstract
1,125,487. Cathode-ray tube circuits. RADIO CORPORATION OF AMERICA. 13 May, 1966 [24 May, 1965], No. 21470/66. Heading H4T. Degaussing coils 13, 14, Figs. 1 and 2, for a shadow-mask colour television tube are connected in series with the A.C. input to the power supply rectifier circuit which utilizes a capacitive filtering network so that, on switching-on, the surge of charging current into the initially completely discharged capacitors 24, 25 produces an alternating magnetic field the magnitude of which is progressively reduced as the capacitors charge. Shortly after they become fully charged a thermal switch 28, connected in series with the heater winding 26, is operated to short-circuit the coils via contacts 31 and to connect D.C. operating potentials +B1, +B2 to the receiver via contacts 32 and 33. The coils 13, 14 are mounted on a magnetic shield 12 of ferrous metal with the foward portions encircling the shield on the outside and the rear portions disposed on the inside.
