Abstract
1,125,235. Winding stators. BALZER & DRÍLL K.G. 1 July, 1966 [9 July, 1965], No. 29598/66. Heading B3A. Winding formers for winding a grooved stator laminate pack comprises a main winding former 2 consisting of a shaft 6, 6<SP>1</SP> which lies against the wall of the inner bore of the stator with shaped formers 3, 4 at each end, and hookshaped auxiliary winding formers 27, 27<SP>1</SP> adjacent the end surfaces of the stator positioned between adjacent grooves (10), Fig. 4 (not shown). The shaft of the main winding former is subdivided into two parts, each part being releasably interlockable with the other part. The interlocking means comprises an arm 19 pivoted in the former 3 with a projection 18 which is interengagable with a groove 26 in an arm 18 of the former 4. Each former 3, 4 has a pair of studs 9, 9<SP>1</SP> which are pushed into adjacent grooves 10 of the stator so that the shoulders 7, 7<SP>1</SP> lie adjacent the end surface of the stator. A number of main winding formers corresponding to the number of poles are similarly positioned on the stator. The hookshaped auxiliary formers 27, 27<SP>1</SP> are pivotally mounted in radial grooves (50), (50<SP>1</SP>), Fig. 4 (not shown), in plates 36, 44. The formers 27, 27<SP>1</SP> are spring biased against stops 56, 56<SP>1</SP> in their working position. Further auxiliary formers (59), (59)<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 6 (not shown), are provided immediately adjacent the main winding formers 2 and do not serve to protect the stator during the winding as they are shorter than the other auxiliary formers 27, 27<SP>1</SP>. The plates 36, 44 on which the auxiliary formers are mounted each have a central aperture 39, 47 to allow the needle carrier 37 to reciprocate through the plates. The plate 36 is mounted on a fixed frame 29 whereas the plate 44 is mounted on a vertically movable frame 30. Initially the frame 30 is raised by hydraulic means 43 and the stator with the main winding formers 2 in position is secured on to the plate 36 by bars 40. The upper frame 30 is lowered until the shoulders 66 on the arms 62 on the upper frame engage the stator 1. The stator is then wound and the wire clamped and severed from the supply. The auxiliary winding formers 27<SP>1</SP>, (59<SP>1</SP>), Fig. 6 (not shown), are withdrawn from between the coil and the stator and the upper frame raised. An hydraulic cylinder 72 is activated to pivot the arms 62 out of engagement with the stator which falls from the frame 1. The main winding formers are then removed axially of the stator by hand.
