Abstract

112,520. Perrett, V. Jan. 25, 1917. Sparking-plugs.-The insulation 1 is of silica and is formed with a recess 3, between which and the casing 5, graphite 6 is packed with metal washers 7, 9 at each end. The central electrode consists of a part 2 of copper alloy or other highly conducting material and a sparking tip 10 of refractory metal such as nickel. The tip is shouldered, with a washer of calcined mica 18 and, if desired, one of platinum or gold between it and the silica insulation, and provided. wit'i a stem 13, partly threaded to engage a corresponding part in the rod 2. A washer 14 with a V-ridge 15 is pressed into the silica 1 by a spring 16.
