Abstract

1,125,146. Heat-developable diazotype materials. GENERAL ANILINE & FILM CORP. Nov.17, 1965 [Nov.19, 1964], No. 48860/65. Heading G2C. A two-component, heat-developable diazotype material comprises a support coated with a layer or layers containing a diazonium compound, an azo coupler, an alkali metal salt of an acid which yields alkali on heating between 100‹ and 200‹C, an acid stabilizer and a vinyl lactam polymer or copolymer. Specified alkali metal salts are those of trichloracetic, oxalic, maleic, malonic and benzene sulphinic acids. The light-sensitive layer may contain silica, acetamide, polyvinyl acetate or alumina. The vinyl lactam may be vinyl pyrrolidone or caprolactam which may be polymerized with vinyl acetate or propionate, vinyl ethyl or methyl ether, vinyl chloride, vinylidene chloride, acrylonitrile, acrylamide or ether acrylate. If two layers are used, the diazonium salt may be coated in one and the alkali metal salt in the other with the coupler being in either layer.
