Abstract

1,124,939. Protective arrangements. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA A.B. 28 Dec., 1965 [28 Dec., 1964], No. 54947/65. Heading H2K. [Also in Division H1] A polyphase overload protective device comprises a plurality of bi-metallic elements 16 . . . 18 (one shown) which act on a lever system formed by a first pivoted lever 34 and a second lever 32 pivoted on the first lever. Under balanced overload conditions, the bi-metallic elements 16. . . 18 are uniformly heated by heaters 20 ... 22 (one shown) and cause the first lever 34 to turn about its adjustable pivot until its upper end abuts an adjustable stop 44. Thereafter the bi-metallic elements cause the lever 32 to turn about its pivot 33 to operate a micro-switch 54. Under unbalanced overload conditions, the movement of the lever 34 is limited by the least heated bimetallic element abutting a stop member 46 on the lever 34. This enables the bi-metallic element with the greatest heating to turn the lever 32 to operate the switch 54 without having to move the lever 34, so that switch operation is effected at a lower current level under unbalanced conditions than under balanced conditions.
