112,454. Stabler, R. R. Dec. 23, 1916, [Convention date]. Explosives, apparatus for treating.-Relates to tools for loading the timerings of projectile fuses, and consists in the particular combination of parts described, intended for the purpose of holding the fuse-rings when their powder-grooves are being filled and enabling the powder to be packed in by pressure. The tool comprises a holder 12 in which the fuse-ring 10 is adapted to be seated, a core member 13 which fits within the fuse-ring and has an extension 19 passing into a central hole in the part 12, a powder guide ring 14 which surrounds the core 13, leaving an annular channel 21 leading to the groove 11 in the fuse-ring, and a curved punch 15<1>. This is forced down by a power-operated plunger 24, Fig. 3, when the powder has been fed into the groove 11 and through the channel 21, so as to effect the necessary compression.
