Abstract

159,928. Beakbane, C. F., and Arnot, J. W. Nov. 8, 1919. Projectiles.-Consists in a machine for debanding shells, in which the shells are placed in turn on a movable carrier and are clamped in position against a debanding tool adapted to be moved round the shell in a circular path. In the form shown, the shell 11 is placed on a V-shaped carrier 5 slidable along a track 4, and is clamped in the position shown, with its base centred in an adjustable ring 12, by a clamp 9. A chisel 24, pivoted eccentrically on a. spur wheel 13, driven through reduction gearing from a motor 14, is inserted in a cut made previously in the driving-band by means of a pneumatic chisel. One revolution of the wheel 13 then removes the band.
