Abstract
1,123,750. Siphon-discharged water-wastepreventers. R. DE. WET BARROW. 20 Dec., 1966 [4 Jan., 1966; 1 July, 1966], No. 57052/ 66. Heading E1C. A flushing cistern includes an outlet 12 with which communicates a deformable pipe 13 having a free end 16, a weir 18 therein at or near its free end 16 preventing flooding of the pipe and arranged to float on the water surface with its upper edge slightly above it at all times when the tank 10 is refilling and is filled to be depressed below the surface to flood the pipe 13 for discharge of the tank 10. The pipe 13 may be as shown, a constriction forming the weir 18. The pipe 13 could be of a substantially constant diameter the weir 18 being at a bend providing a hump. In a modificiation the free end is substantially horizontal with a discharged tank, the bottom portion of the pipe free end being closed by a lip-defining a weir. In another modification the pipe is substantially vertical, the weir being at the edge of a top cup formation.
