Abstract

1,122,392. Valves. J. HARBIDGE, and S. B. HARTOP. 13 Oct., 1965 [17 July, 1964], No. 29399/64. Heading F2V. In a multi-way valve providing communication between low pressure (4), high pressure (5) and service connection outlets (6) (Fig. 3, not shown), via valve spools (2) urged to the closed position by springs (8) and alternately openable by a handle (17) operating through a cam (16) actuated rocker mechanism as disclosed in Specification 1,122,391, connections 4 and 5 are also connected via a passage 21a controlled by a similar valve member 2f which is opened by a further cam 16a on handle 17 when the handle 17 is in the neutral position, with both valve spools (2) closed, to provide " open centre " communication, and the unbalancing load on operating mechanism 9 is counterbalanced by a member 22, which member 22 does not have a seating action with opening 11. The balancing member 22 may also be employed in valve arrangements incorporating five valve spools of which two pairs each control communication between a separate service connection and inlet-outlet and the other valve member provides similar " open-centre " communication. The form and arrangement of the valve body construction is as described in Specification 1,122,393.
