Abstract

112,119. Morley, W. H. U. Nov. 17, 1917. Fire-bars.-The upper edges of fire-bars are constructed with oppositely inclined surfaces 10, 11 rising to ridges 1 which are in two parallel lines when seen in plan. The bars are grouped together as shown, so that the inclines 10, 11 of adjacent bars form grooves 12 in which the ashes &c. collect, and passages 8 on the other sides of the ridges 1 form vertical air ducts through which air enters the fire, the grooves 12 and the air passages 8 alternating with one another both longitudinally and transversely. The parts 6 under the inclines 10, 11 form distance-pieces, and may have straight side edges. The bars may be cast in pairs, and the inclines 10, 11 may be replaced by concave surfaces.
