Fire-bars.-In a fire-bar 1, of the kind provided on one side with fins 2 of inverted triangular shape and inclined upwardly towards the rest, the bar itself is of right-angled triangular crosssection, the plain side being vertical and parallel with the outer faces of the fins. Fig. 5 shows a grate formed of two sets of bars 1 supported on front, middle, and rear dead-plates 9, 11, 14, the fins 2 being omitted from the abutting ends 15, 16 of the sets of bars, which ends are formed of reduced thickness to provide air passages of greater area adjacent the dead-plate 11.
