Abstract

1,120,508. Vehicle lighting control. GLOBAL PATENTS Ltd. Oct. 14, 1966 [Oct. 21, 1965], No. 45914/66. Heading G1A A vehicle lighting control device comprises a photo-conductive sensor responsive to ambient light conditions and feeding a reed-type relay. In a simple device Fig. 2 (not shown) for control of a vehicle parking lamp, the sensor (15), a CdS cell, and relay (16) are mounted, with the lamp, in a casing attached to the vehicle rear wing. A manual switch (18) is provided to cut off power from the car battery or to test the parking lamp. The relay may Fig. 2 (not shown) or may not Fig. 4 (not shown) be provided with a permanent magnet (22) to hold it in. In a more sophisticated version (Fig. 3), the device is connected to the vehicle brake and indicator lamps 24 through a resistor 25, so that during daylight conditions the lamps are brighter than at night-time. The parking lamp can be connected in circuit as required using switch 26.
