Abstract

1,119,691. Masted lift trucks; vehicle load elevators NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP. 22 Sept., 1965 [23 June, 1964], No. 25980/64. Headings B8E and B8H. The mast of a lift truck comprises a pair of inwardly facing channel-section uprights 13 which are secured to the truck chassis and which are provided at their lower ends with pivoted extensions 15. When the fork carriage 22 is positioned, at least in part, on the extensions and when the extensions are tilted by means of a ram 18, the fork arms 21 are directed downwardly, Fig. 5 (not shown), to facilitate engagement with the load. The fork carriage 22 is raised by means of a ram 25 and is adapted to raise a control station 30 which may be locked at selected raised positions. The fork arms 21 are provided with power driven rollers 28 whereby loads may be transferred between the fork arms and an endless chain conveyer 11 on a load carrying portion of the truck. Extensions may be pivotally mounted at the upper ends of the uprights 13, Fig. 6 (not shown).
