Abstract

1,119,315. Variable-speed gears. J. G. GILES. 7 March, 1967, No. 10746/67. Heading F2D. In a variable-speed transmission comprising combined epicyclic and hydrostatic gear units, the input shaft 1 drives a carrier 3 for sets of triple planet pinions 5, 7, 12 meshing sun pinions 6, 8, 13 respectively driving the output shaft 2, pump rotor 11 and motor rotor 14, the pump and motor being mounted as a single assembly and driven by hollow shafts 9, 10 concentric with the input shaft 1. The pump and motor units may be of the slipper-vane type, respectively controlled by a hand lever and linkage 24, 25, and by an automatic control 30 supplied with liquid by a priming pump 15.
