Abstract

1,119,244. Tubular packaging container. MICROTHERM Ltd. 3 Aug., 1966 [8 July, 1965; 26 Oct., 1965], Nos. 29101/65 and 35998/66. Headings B8C, B8D and B8T. A tube of polygonal cross-section is formed by score lines 5 (Fig. 4) two of which permit the tube to be flattened. The tube is of low-loss sheet material, so that a hot dog in it can be heated by microwave energy, and the ends of the tube may be closed by plastics caps 15 which may be inserted by heated dies to facilitate distortion to fit the tube. Alternatively the end caps may be glued or heat-sealed in place. The tube may be formed from scored sheet by gluing an overlap (10) (Fig. 1, not shown). Score lines (7), (8) on opposite faces of the sheet material may define a tear strip around the middle of the tube. For filling the collapsed tube is squeezed and then pushed over a mandrel, and is then positioned under a tapering tube down which the hot dog is pushed into the container.
