Abstract

1,267,811. Seaming non-metallic sheet material. U.G. CLOSURES & PLASTICS Ltd. 18 April, 1969 [15 May, 1968], No. 23064/68. Heading B5K. [Also in Division B8] A package, e.g. for oil, comprises a thermoplastic tubular body portion 10, 0À010-0À020 inch thick, and a metallic, thermoplastic, or laminate thereof, base 12, optionally flanged, the package being pinch-sealed at its upper end, e.g. by heated plates or ultrasonic welding. The package may have an outer metallic foil wrapper adhered to it, e.g. by induction heat sealing, and may be printed upon. The body portion and base may be blow-moulded integrally or the body may be extruded from a continuous length and attached to the base, e.g. by spin welding, high frequency induction welding or dielectric welding. The body may be of polyethylene, polypropylene or polyvinyl chloride and the base may be of high density polyethylene, polystyrene, polypropylene, aluminium or tin.
