Abstract

1,118,389. Cutting device. SEMPERIT OSTERREICHISCH-AMERIKANISCHE GUMMIWERKE A.G. 30 Jan., 1967 [31 Jan., 1966; 9 Feb., 1966], No. 4354/67. Heading B5A. A device for cutting a rubber or plastic mix formed on a roll into strips comprises two rotatable cutter discs inclined to each other, the gap between the discs being a minimum in the neighbourhood of the roll. The cutters 8 are rotatably mounted on bushes mounted on a spindle which passes through a bore in the bush inclined to its axis. One bush is rigidly attached to the spindle and the other keyed so that the disc separation can be varied and the spindle can be rotated by a lockable lever to adjust the position of the minimum gap. The discs are inclined to each other at an angle between 2 and 60 degrees. The plastics material is cut by the revolving discs which are spring biased against the roll, and as the closest point of the discs is normally just after contact with the roll, the plastics material 3a is compressed and drawn off the roll and on to shoot 9. The material may be cut into blocks by the additional use of a rotating paddle wheel shaped cutter 7, which is biased against the roll and provides transverse cuts in the plastics material.
