Abstract

1,118,355. Syringes; reciprocating pumps. DOW CHEMICAL CO. May 2, 1966 [May 3, 1965], No.19273/66. Headings F1A and F1R. [Also in Division B8] A dispenser for use with a replaceable tubular package 4 closed at each end by a clamped metal band 5, e.g. for grease, caulking compound, food, printing ink, paint, syrup, tar or asphalt, comprises a container 1 for the package, a cupshaped, perforated retainer 14 mounted on a detachable cover 3, a tubular receiver 16 for receiving a closed end of the package, and a follower member 6 which is operated to pressurize the package 4 to pierce it on pointed members 17 and expel the contents through outlet port 8. Follower 6 may be manually, (as shown), or hydraulically actuated. A pump may be mounted on cover 3 and comprises a piston 9 reciprocable by lever 11.
