Abstract

1,118,138. Flexible barges. A. THORSTEINSSON. 9 March, 1967 [17 Dec., 1965], No. 53725/65. Heading B7A. A flexible barge for the transport and/or storage of solids, such as fish, suspended in sea water comprises a longitudinally extending collapsible container formed of flexible material and having valves 9 in its bottom portion for the passage of sea water, the upper portion being inflatable with air and having a loading entrance 2 with a neck extending into the container to a level below that of the sea water in the container thereby preventing the escape of air from said upper portion. The valves 9 are automatically maintained closed unless opened by air pressure from a source separate from the barge. The container is provided with a discharge port 5 and inflatable floats 13, and also with transverse partition 3 and a longitudinal network partition 7 which extend down to a level 4-4 so as to leave a non-compartmented bottom portion.
