Abstract

1,117,719. Terminal. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. 28 April, 1967, No. 19772/67. Heading H2E. A terminal interconnecting the electrical circuits on opposite faces of a double sided printed circuit board 1 comprises a tubular metal body 4 having an external flange 5 located between its ends, the axial distance between the plane of the flange and one end of the body being less than the thickness of the board 1. This end of the body is inserted in a hole 6 drilled through the circuit board until the flange 5 abuts against the printed circuit 3 on one face of the board. The flange is then soldered to this circuit. The inserted end of the terminal remains underflush relative to the other face of the board so that it does not make electrical contact with the circuit 2 on that face. An electrical conductor 7 is taken axially through the terminal body, one of its ends being soldered to flange 3 and the other end to circuit 2 on the other side of the board. In an alternative arrangement one end of the conductor is prewelded or presoldered to the upper part of the body, the other end being hand or flow soldered to circuit 2. The hole in the terminal may be filled with a non-rigid insulating material such as silicon rubber.
