Abstract

1,117,415. Wrapping articles in tubes. TABAK - UND INDUSTRIEMASCHINEN DRESDEN VEB. 3 Nov., 1965, No. 46522/65. Heading B8C. [Also in Division F2] Overlapping portions 8, 10 of a web tubed inside a mandrel 3, 4 are welded together by a tool 7 extending into aligned apertures 12, 13 in overlapping portions of the mandrel, and co-operating with a support 11 formed by one edge of the mandrel. The support 11 may carry an anvil 14 of plastics material formed with a notch 18. The leading end of the mandrel may be formed with inclined surfaces. Articles are fed into the tubing, as it is formed, by an endless conveyer forming an extension of the mandrel. Contact of the articles with the welding support 11 is prevented by a spring blade 19. The tubing may subsequently be welded and parted between the articles. The mandrel may be mounted horizontally or vertically.
