Abstract
1,090,618. Seaming non-metallic sheet material. TABAKUND INDUSTRIEMASCHINEN DRESDEN VEB. Feb. 27, 1965, No. 8550/65. Heading B5K. [Also in Division F2] A web 20 of packaging material is folded around an article (indicated wrapped at 19) which has been inserted in the trough below overlapping top plates 11, 12 of a tube-forming device. The relative positions of the plates 11 and 12 may be adjusted (Fig. 6, not shown) to form either a " fin " seam or a plain overlap along the longitudinal edges of the web. If a " fin " seam is formed, a slot 42 is cut in the top plate 12 only so that the fin is pressed between a hot-sealing roller 43 and the plate 11; if a lap seam is required the slot is cut through both plates so that the overlap is pressed between the roller 43 and the package. Alternatively to the roller the hot-sealing tool may be in the form of a heated yoke below which the seam slides (Fig. 8, not shown).
