Abstract

1,116,159. Duplicating process. DYMO INDUSTRIES Inc. 28 Feb., 1966 [8 March, 1965], No. 8657/66. Heading B6C. A process for duplicating in visual form subject matter from a master medium to a copy medium comprises the steps of providing a copy medium having in at least one surface thereof a water-soluble compound of a metal selected from vanadium and titanium having a valence of at least 4 and molybdenum and tungsten having a valence of 6, providing a developing fluid containing an organic compound selected from dihydroxy benzenes, ring substituted dihydroxybenzenes, dihydroxynaphthalenes and ring substituted dihydroxynaphthalenes in which compound two hydroxy groups are on adjacent carbon atoms, and contacting said watersoluble compound on said one surface of said copy medium with said developing medium only in areas determined by the master medium to form on said one surface a copy in visual form of the subject matter. The invention also relates to duplicating copy media having a surface coated with the water soluble salt or with an organic compound as above and also to developing fluids which contain the water-soluble salt or the organic compound respectively. In particular the use of propyl gallate and vanadate ions is specified to produce a black complex of formula
