1,115,835. Ground augers; earth excavating equipment; scarifier teeth. G. A. PETERSEN. 31 May, 1966 [1 June, 1965], No. 24195/66. Headings E1F and E1G. An earth-digging tooth 17, Fig. 2, for an auger, trenching machine, grader, dipper, backhoe, harrow, scarifier or the like, has a slotted end forming prongs 24, Fig. 5, engaging openings 38 in toothholder 31. Resilient insert 41 bent in U-form and passed through holes 42 to engage contiguous surfaces 22, 37 prevents accidental separation of tooth and holder. Grooves 46 may be formed in surfaces 37 and are shaped to distort the insert. In a modification, the insert engages contiguous surfaces 26, 36 on each side of web 34, and surfaces 36 may be grooved. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 875235.
