Abstract

1,113,947. Electric primers. DYNAMIT NOBEL A.G. 1 July, 1965 [2 July, 1964], No. 28004/65. Heading F3A. A primer comprises an electrically conductive cup 4 housing a polepiece 6 separated by insulation 5 from the cup, and an electrically conductive priming composition 8 surrounded by reinforcement 7 which is also conductive. The primer is pressed into a casing 1 made of electrically conductive material of substantial thickness. Priming 8 protected by a cover 9 is aligned with a flash passage 2 in the casing 1, which has a threaded extension 3 by which the casing 1 can be connected to a workpiece, e.g. to initiate an ignition or combustion process. A cap 10 made of thermoplastic material such as polyethylene or polypropylene closes the casing 1 and holds a contact 13 against the polepiece 6. In a second embodiment the primer is housed in a casing 1 made of a thermoplastic such as polyethylene. The casing presses a contact (17) against the polepiece 6. A lead wire 18 to the contact is embedded in the casing in spaced relationship with a second lead wire (20) which is connected to a contact ring (19) abutting the cup 4. The casing 1 is protected by a metal covering (21).
