Abstract

1,113,767. Travelling wave tubes. ENGLISH ELECTRIC VALVE CO. Ltd. 22 Nov., 1966 [27 Jan., 1966], No. 3720/66. Heading H1D. A coupled resonator slow wave structure for a travelling wave tube includes a plurality of spaced discs 2 transversely mounted in a waveguide 1 with central, aligned beam passage apertures 3, and a plurality of axially extending connecting conductors 6 arranged in a ring coaxial with the axis, half the conductors conductively engaging only one set of alternate discs, and the other conductors conductively engaging only the other set of alternate discs. The conductors 6 are brazed to the discs at the smaller holes 4, but pass insulatedly through the larger holes 5, the smaller and larger holes alternating around each disc. The discs may be twisted through a small angle with respect to one another, the conductors 6 being correspondingly curved.
