Abstract
1,113,463. Hot water boilers; combustion apparatus. ACCUM A.G. 15 Nov., 1965 [16 Nov., 1964], No. 48444/65. Headings F4A and F4B. A hot water boiler for burning solid and/or liquid fuel, and which provides both central heating and domestic draw off water, comprises in its bottom half a combustion chamber 3 containing a grate 18 and an oil burner 22 all surrounded by an annular water jacket 4, and in its top half a domestic water heater 2 indirectly heated by the hot boiler water. Combustion gases from the combustion chamber 3 leave through outlet 6 to pass through gas passages (8a, 8b, 9, Fig. 2) defined by water containing baffle walls (7a), 7b above the roof of combustion chamber 3, under the control of adjustable shutter 17 on their way to outlet pipe 10. To ensure complete combustion of the gases as. they leave the chamber 3, secondary air is supplied from the space 19 beneath the grate 18, to the gases at the outlet 6, by one or more vertical ducts 22b welded to the inner wall 4b of the water jacket.
