Abstract

1,113,010. Caps for test tubes. LœDI & CIE A. G. 27 April, 1967 [28 April, 1966], No. 19371/67. Heading B8T. A cap 1 is retained on a test tube 3 by a spring strip 2 circumferentially located around its inner wall, the strip having parallel slots 9 between which are wall portions 10 connecting the upper and lower ends 8 of the strip. Alternate wall portions 10 of the spring strip 2 are bent inwards to form curved crests 11<SP>1</SP>, 11<SP>11</SP> for frictional engagement with the outer surface of the test tube 3. As shown, the spring strip 2 is located between upper and lower grooves 7 in the wall 4 of the cap 1, which has a handle 6. As a modification, the upper groove 7 may be omitted, the spring strip 2 then seating against the top wall 5 of the cap. The cap 1 and the spring strip 2 may be made of metal or plastics. A known type of cap is described, in which a spring strip (12), Figs. 4, 5 (not shown), is similarly arranged, but instead of having wall portions 10 &c. has tongues (13) with free ends (14) which engage the test tube wall.
