Abstract

1,112,861. Container closures. W. ECKERT. 3 March, 1965, No. 9101/65. Heading B8T. A bottle or like container closure comprises a plastics pouring sleeve 3 adapted to be inserted in a bottle neck 1 and a lid 7 closing a pouring opening 4, a ring 21 securing the pouring sleeve in place in the container opening and the lid being hinged to the pouring sleeve by a strap 12. As shown, the ring 21 extends over the lid and may be torn so that its remaining portion secures the pouring sleeve in the bottle neck. An air duet 5 is provided and the lid has a projection 9 which fits into a pouring channel 10 when the lid is pushed down. The ring 21 is made of metal and the closure as shown is used with a screw-threaded bottle neck but modifications are described in which the closure is attached to beaded bottle necks or openings in can lids. Also, the ring may be attached to a portion of the pouring sleeve protruding from the container opening and the lid may be hinged to the ring.
