Switches; bases; contacts. - In a rotary watertight switch suitable for use on aeroplanes the rotary contactcarrying member is formed of two diskshaped parts j, k con. nected together by a square cam-portion i and the holder, with. in which the rotary member is mounted, is formed with projections f. The disk-shaped part k has cutaway portions to allow it to pass the projections when being assembled, and when the rotary member is turned it is held in position by the projections f which, as shown in Fig. 1, are located between the disks. The contact m on the disk k co-operates with the fixed contacts d sweated within metal sockets c which are moulded in tubular extensions b of the holder. The contacts d are formed with circular ridges and they may not be directly engaged by the movable contacts, the circuit being completed by sparking across a small gap n when the contacts are opposite one another. The ' in ' and ' off ' positions of the switch are determined by bent springs h<1>, held in place by the projections f and by a recess g in the holder, and engaged by the cam portion i on the rotary member. The switch is mounted in position by means of a flange e moulded on the holder and serving also to hold a cover r which secures a felt washer q saturated with vaseline over the annular joint between the holder and the rotary part and renders the switch waterproof.
