Abstract
<PICT:1110844/C6-C7/1> In a diaphragm-type cell comprising a number of single cells in series in which the anodes/cathodes are back-to-back vertical relationship as bi-polar cells, the cells are mounted in a housing and spaced from the walls thereof so that electrolyte flows to a common level in all the cells. The details of the cell, electrodes, gas collection &c. is disclosed in Specification 1,110,841. Fig.3 shows cathode fingers 40 and intervening anode plates 28, mounted on a common base-plate, forming a cell, the outer member 14 of which (a gas collector) is spaced from the housing 50 leaving a space 46, through which electrolyte passes to the adjacent cell, which is similarly mounted.
