Abstract
1,110,118. Valves. C. H. EDWARDS Ltd. 24 Aug., 1965 [25 Aug., 1964], No. 34713/64. Heading F2V. A valve comprises a chamber 14 having an inlet 16 controlled by a valve 20, and an outlet 36, connecting with an outlet pipe 72, controlled by a float-actuated valve 42. Valve 42 comprises a jumper having an upstanding stem 44 freely located in a bore 46 of a member 48 connected by ball-shaped element 50 to one end of a float arm 56. Downward movement of the float raises the member 48 and allows the pressure of fluid in the chamber 14 to lift the valve 42. Upward movement of the float causes member 48 to force the valve 42 on to its seat and cut off flow. If the supply at inlet 16 fails, valve 42 will fall and prevent back-flow.
