Abstract

110,909. Stitzel, F. Nov. 2, 1916, [Convention date]. Spring wheels with continuous outer rigid ring and helical springs.-Separate resilient devices are arranged between the inner and outer rims 3, 4, each consisting of a bracket 7 secured to the rim 4 formed with a housing 15 for a helical spring 16 (in compression), and a bracket 6 secured to the rim 3 and formed with walls 9 between which the bracket 7 is adapted to slide. Balls 13 are fitted in coned recesses in plugs 11, 17, so that relative displacement of the rims 3, 4, causes further compression of the springs 16. As applied to disk wheels, lugs 28, 29, Fig. 6, on the brackets are bolted between the wheel-disks 25 and flanges 27 on the outer rim respectively.
