Abstract
1,108,927. Turbines. A.J. JONES. March 8, 1966, No. 10070/66. Heading F1T. A turbine rotor comprises a rotor disc formed at its periphery with pairs of fluid-flow passages 13a so that when working fluid is supplied through nozzle 12a to act on the right-hand surfaces 13a, the rotor rotates in one direction while when fluid is supplied through an oppositely directed nozzle (not shown) so as to act on the left-hand surfaces 13a, the rotor rotates in the opposite direction. The working fluid may be gas or liquid. The surfaces 13a are formed by slots in the rotor periphery, a cylindrical member 13 being disposed between each pair of surfaces 13a so as to provide two fluid-flow paths. A shroud member g2 is provided around the periphery of the rotor and a baffle member g1 is provided at the side of the rotor opposite the nozzle 12a. The turbine is suitable for driving hand tools such as screw drivers and spanners.
