Abstract

1,108,874. Preventing theft. F. J. PROWSE. 17 June, 1966 [5 July, 1965], No. 28336/65. Heading B7J. A steering wheel locking device comprises a U-shaped member 8 which engages the wheel and has aligned holes 9 for a padlock, and a hook 15 which engages a fixture within the vehicle, e.g. a pedal, the components 8 and 15 being connected by bars 5 and 6 welded to these components and connected together by a rivet which forms a hinge. Each bar 5, 6 has a plurality of holes 14 provided in depressions 13 to enable the device to be produced with different lengths. The device is made from hardened steel and the bars 5 and 6 formed with stiffening fluting 12 as is a shroud 17 for the hook 15. The bars 5 and 6 may be bent and U-shaped member 8 lined by a non- abrasive covering 10.
