Abstract

Heading [Also in Division B3] In, a magnet coil 10 having wire turns wound to form a winding having an axially throughrunning Cavity and coated with an encapsulating compound, two mutually identical axially hollow end supports 11 structurally unitary with the winding are located one at each end of the winding and extend into the cavity for a length which is short relative to half the winding axial length so that the coating provides the main mechanical support of the coil. The extensions are formed by tabs (12), Fig. 4, and the plastics support is slotted at 13 to facilitate its assembly and accommodate the leads. The wire may be. enamelled and sprayed or coated with an adhesive to temporarily hold the winding together.
