Abstract

1,108,551. Hydraulic accumulators. POWER AUXILIARIES Ltd. May 25, 1965 [May 26, 1964], No.21.637/64. Heading F1P In an hydraulic accumulator comprising a twopart casing 1, 2 separated by a flexible membrane 5 into a gas space 7 and a liquid space 6, the gas space 7 is sub-divided by a perforated baffle 11 which limits the deflection of the membrane under the action of liquid pressure to a volume of gas displacement which is substantially less than half the maximum volume of the gas space. The casing part 2 and the baffle 11 are reinforced by webs 3, 13 and are provided with grooves 18 and ridges 19 respectively, which mate with the corrugations in the metal membrane 5 when in either of its limit positions. In a second construction Fig. 2 (not shown) the accumulator comprises two membranes defining a liquid space therebetween, the expansion of which is limited by a pair of perforated baffles (31) disposed in a casing defining two interconnected gas spaces, one on the outer side of each membrane.
