Abstract
1432134 Making heat exchangers FULTON (TI) Ltd 3 Aug 1973 [5 May 1972] 21015/72 Heading B3A [Also in Division F4] A method of manufacturing a heat exchanger, particularly for use in a domestic refrigerator, comprises (a) disposing a length of sinuous tubing 10 and adhesive between a pair of aluminium foil sheets 11 and 12 and (b) subsequently pressing the sheets together to deform at least one of the sheets to provide tubing- accommodating recesses and at the same time secure the sheets and tubing together by the adhesive. As shown both of the sheets 11, and 12 are deformed to provide tubing accommodating recesses. In an alternative construction (Fig. 3, not shown) only one of the sheets (11a) is deformed to provide recesses for the tubing, the other sheet (12a) being of substantially planar configuration. One or both the sheets, in the regions between the straight portions of the tubing, may be formed with ribs 13 extending at right angles to the straight portions, or with embossed portions (not shown) extending parallel to the straight portions. Slots may also be formed in those parts of the sheets between adjacent straight tube portions. The heat exchanger may be provided with a black finish.
