[Also in Division F2] A mechanism for assisting the drive from a disc 18 through a gear train 20, 17, 22, 21 to a digital register of an electric meter comprises bevel planets 14 meshing side wheels 16, 13 respectively connected to the gear 17 and by a spring 12 to a shaft 11 carrying the planets 14 and driven by an electric motor at a constant speed that is higher than the speed of the gear 17 so that the gear 13 rotates faster than the shaft 11 to energize the spring 12 which reacts through the gear train to apply a torque to the gear 17 that assists the drive. To prevent the assisting torque from influencing the speed of the driving disc 18 a unidirectional drive such as a worm and wheel 19 or escapement mechanism is provided. Some of the teeth of the gear 13 are missing to limit the energization of the spring.
