Abstract
1,108,443. Distillation column. H. STAGE. 7 April, 1965 [15 April. 1964], No. 14728/65. Heading B1R. In a distillation column having vertically spaced contact plates 2 liquid is transferred from one plate to a plate below through a hollow chamber 4 with an opening 5 and a screw 5' for drawing off liquid in the plate at a predetermined level and a downwardly extending pipe 3 sealed at its lower end by the hollow chamber of the plate below and having openings 6 through which liquid flows onto a conical distributor disc 7. The plates and downcomers form a unitary structure which can be inserted in and removed from a column casing. In a modification the pipe 3 discharges into a container provided with openings and secured to the lower end of the pipe-3 and supported by the upper surface of the hollow chamber of the plate below.
