Abstract

[Also in Divisions B1 and B2] The wall of a trough supplying liquid to a packed gas/liquid contact column or of a weir supplying liquid to a bubble-cap tray has one or more openings 22 of Y-shape through which liquid flows. As shown the stem 24 of the opening extends into a grooved portion 30, the upper edge 26 of the grooved portion being shaped like a meniscus.
