Abstract

1,107,617. Thermionic cathode constructions. BRITISH LIGHTING INDUSTRIES Ltd. 13 Sept., 1966, No. 40832/66. Heading H1D. An electrode for a high pressure discharge lamp comprises a tubular braid of tungsten wires which is filled with thermionically emissive material 17 and is coiled about a tungsten rod 15. The braid may be coiled in two layers and spaced, from the tip 18 of the rod 15. The electrodes may project from the pinch-seal ends of a quartz arc tube, Fig. 2 (not shown) and the ends of the electrodes within the seal may be welded to a molybdenum foil.
