Abstract
1,105,506. Hydraulic presses. SAAB AKTIEBOLAG. 21 May, 1965 [29 May, 1964], No: 21699/65. Heading B5F. [Also in Division B3] A press for forming sheet metal 29 between a punch 25 and a pressure chamber movable relatively to the punch comprises a rubber &c. diaphragm 16 bounding the chamber and prevented from entering the clearance between a work-holder 26 and the wall of a bore 10 containing the chamber by a sealing ring 30 which engages the work-holder. A cylinder 3 forming the chamber is suspended resiliently by springs 9 on bolts 4 from a plate 1 mounted on the pressram. The work-holder 26 is supported on rods 27 biased upwardly but capable of downward movement during the pressing operation.. A ring 20 clamps the diaphragm against the borewall, and a vent passage 23, closed by a screw 22, opens into the chamber. The plunger 11 is sealed by a packing washer 14. A shoulder on the ring 30 engages a shoulder on the bore-wall, or the ring 30 may be retained by spring-pressed balls on the ring engaging a groove in the borewall. The ring may be a split ring.
