Abstract
1,104,434. Automatic circuit breakers. STOTZ-KONTAKT G.m.b.H. 17 Sept., 1965 [17 Nov., 1964], No. 39802/65. Heading H1N. In an automatic circuit breaker the bimetal trip 2, the electromagnetic trip 3, the latch 6 and the latched member 5 are assembled upon a base-plate 1 as an independent structure which can be calibrated independently of the remainder of the breaker and before insertion into the breaker casing (Fig. 1, not shown). The release structure is coupled to the operating mechanism by a pivot pin 9. During calibration, by screw 12, a force is applied to the pivot 9 equivalent to the force which will be applied by the operating mechanism. The latch 6 may act as the armature of the electromagnet 3 or may carry a slug 16 (Fig. 3, not shown) moving within the coil. Alternatively a slug movable in the coil (Fig. 4, not shown) may act on the latch through a lost-motion connection.
