Abstract

A marine floating structure 10 comprises a horizontal platform 11, supported by four buoyantly supported vertical column assemblies 16 each of which includes a vertical column 17 surrounded by a baffle in the form of an extensively perforated cylindrical shell or wall, 19 and each column assembly 16 terminates in a submerged foot portion 20 comprising a coaxial thick buoyant disc chamber designed to provide the main lifting force. In. other embodiments the columns 17 may be relatively narrow in section or may be of moderate section and extended in depth to provide sufficient lifting force in themselves. In this latter case, Fig. 6 (not shown,), one or more planar baffles 27 are located below the mean sea surface at a distance at least equal to half the maximum wave height.
