Abstract
1,101,988. Plate heat exchangers. A.P.V. CO. Ltd. 26 Oct., 1966 [15 Nov., 1965], No. 48487/65. Heading F4S. FIG. 1. In a plate heat exchanger comprising a plurality of plates 1 ribbed or grooved to form corrugations 4 traversing the plate 1 over which fluid flows from inlet port 5 to outlet port 6, the ribs or grooves 4 stop short of the inner gasket groove wall 7 at each side, the ends of the ribs or grooves being longitudinally aligned, and the inner gasket groove wall 7 is intermittently displaced inwardly into gaps 8 formed between ends of adjacent ribs or grooves. As shown, the inner wall of the gasket groove is displaced in a rectangular manner into the gaps 8 between the ends of adjacent ribs or grooves. In an alternative form (Fig. 4) the gasket recess is corrugated in a continuous curved form, the curve having crests extending into the gaps 8.
