A handle assembly comprises a housing, a handle shank for moving a bolt rotatable with the shank into and out of engagement with the housing to prevent or permit rotation of the shank within the housing the key operated lock being contained within a bore in the shank and located by engagement thereof between an abutment on the shank and an abutment on the housing. The housing 11 has a fixing plate 22 and the handle shank 10 has a lug 25 abutting one end of the housing and a cap 26 thereon. The cylinder lock is mounted within the shank bore 12 and a slot 13 within the shank and abuts one end of wall of the shank and one end of the housing. The lock operates the bolt 27 through an eccentric pin #3 on a member 28, the pin engaging in a slot in the bolt The bolt extends through an aperture in the housing. When the lock is operated to withdraw the bolt and the shank 10 is turned by rotating the portion 15 on the shank, the shank rotates a spindle connected to an insertion 35 having a lug 36 connecting it to the shank. The bolt passes through a diagonal slot in the insertion to rotate therewith. The rotation of the member 28 may be limited by a peg projecting from the end of the insertion into a peripheral recess in the member. There may be a lost motion drive between the cylinder and the member.
